The Salton Sea, located in the Colorado Desert in Imperial Valley. Confusingly, the Colorado Desert is in California.
Due to the salinity of the area, and runoff carrying it into the water there, most everything in it has died. The beaches are made of ground bone of dead fish. The place smells of rotting things.
However, it’s a mecca for abandon-porn shooters. Tons of structures, homes, cars, trailers, buildings are left for nature to reclaim. I’m not even sure what the poles going out into the water were for, but when I saw them line up I had to take a photo.
The photo came out super saturated in camera, due to the polarizing filter I had on my lens. I had to desaturate it in post in order for it to look more like the actual scene.
